Our History

In 1985 the Town and Country Kiwanis Club of Ames planned and sponsored the organization of a new Club, Golden K Kiwanis of Ames.

On May 8, 1986, Golden K Kiwanis was issued its charter with 29 charter members at a banquet held at the Starlite Village. A total of 120 persons attended the banquet from Ames, Marshalltown, Nevada, Spencer, Spirit Lake, and Ankeny. Division 6 Lt. Governor Allen Ropp serves as toastmaster.  Nebraska-Iowa Governor Louie Hansen presented the charter to Club President Marvin Gould.  The Club has since grown to about 100 members.
