MEMBERSHIP MINUTES

Attendance:  60 members, 3 guests

Location:  First United Methodist Church

 

The meeting was called to order by President Don Muff at 9:30 a.m.  Opening ceremonies were led by Roger Andersen.

 

Announcements:

 

Ron Skrdla, New Member.  Don Muff introduced our newest member, Ron Skrdla.  Ron is a retired staff member from the ISU Agronomy Department.  He graduated from Iowa State and has lived in the Ames community most of his adult life.  He is quite active in the Ames community and he and his wife live on Monroe Drive.  Welcome, Ron.

 

Open House, Ames City Hall. Muff announced at there will be an open house at the Ames City Hall in commemoration of the opening of a new operations center for the Ames Police Department.  Hours are from noon to 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 31st.

 

Pancake Days ticket sales.  Peter Peterson announced that there are ample tickets available for sale for Kiwanis Pancake Days on February 28 – March 1st.  Signup sheets for volunteers to work will be available soon.

 

Humor.  John Slaughter provided the humor for the day

 

Program.  Jim Cornette introduced Anicia Peters, ISU Computer Science Graduate Student, who spoke on her research topic, “Human Computer Interaction”  She provided some interesting information on the use of Facebook and other social media and how humans interact with these computer programs.

 

Next Week.  Program next week is “Discovering Where you Live,”  by Carl Kurtz, a wildlife photographer.

 

The meeting was adjourned by Muff at 10:30 am.
