MEMBERSHIP MINUTES

Attendance:  64 members, 4 guests

Location:  First United Methodist Church

 

The meeting was called to order by President Don Muff at 9:30 a.m.  Opening ceremonies were led by Roger Andersen.  Invocation was given by Larry Vallery. 

 

Announcements:

 

1.      Fred Walker.  Fred is hospitalized at Mary Greeley, Room 263.  Would enjoy visitors.

 

2.       Road-side Clean-up.  Delayed again due to weather.  Tentatively scheduled for next Thursday, May 1st.  Meet at Holub parking lot at 12:30 pm.  Final decision made before our meeting next week.

 

3.      “Odyssey of Minds.”  Tom Peter announced that several volunteers are still needed for serving meals for Odyssey of Minds.  Sign-up sheets were distributed.  Check with Peter if you have questions or can sign-up.

 

4.      Pancake Days – Final Financial Report.  Wayne Hagemoser reported on the ticket sales and donations for Pancake Days.  Total tickets, $4,905 (our ˝ $2,952.50); Donations, $331.00; Contributions to Foundation, (10 contributors), $1,285.00.

 

5.      Interclub, May 6th, Roland.  John Johnson has scheduled an interclub to the Roland Club for May 6th, 6:30 p.m.  Leave Ames about 5:30 p.m.  Would like to have 8 members (qualify for 2 interclubs).  Contact Johnson if interested.

 

6.      Officers/Directors Election.  Election will be on May 8th.  Muff reviewed the nominees and also announced that nominations will be taken from the floor.

 

7.      “Old Water Treatment Plant Open House” & Pancake Breakfast.  Sandy Fleck announced that the Ames Police Department is sponsoring a Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, 7:30 a.m to 11:00 a.m. at the Ames Boys & Girls Club.  Cost $5/person.  Also, the City will be hosting an open house at the present Water Treatment Plant, Saturday, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in honor of Ames 150th anniversary.  Water Treatment plant is scheduled to close once the new treatment plant is constructed.

 

8.      Emergency Residence Project Donation.  Vic Moss, Director, Emergency Residence Project was presented a $2250 check.  Is one of our local charities supported by Golden K.  Reported that Emergency Residence assisted more than 2200 people in 2013.  Over 70% of budget comes from donations.

 

Humor.  Provided by Ed Augustine.

 

Program.  Christie Johnson-Lynch, ISU Women’s Volleyball Coach, spoke on “ISU Volleyball – 2014.”  Provided the group with a review of 2013 season and update for 2014.  Answered many questions posed by the audience.
