Attendance:  49 members, 6 guests

Location:  First United Methodist Church

 

The meeting was called to order by President Don Muff at 9:30 a.m.  Opening ceremonies were led by Roger Anderson.  Invocation was given by Larry Vallery. 

 

Announcements.

 

1.     Laverne Seversike.  Laverne Seversike is still hospitalized at Mary Greeley.

 

2.      Fred Walker.  Recuperating and would enjoy visitors.

 

3.     Duane Brodie.    Went in for an angiogram this morning before departing for Canada.

 

4.      International Problem Solvers.  Trede announced that there are still 6 slots to be filled for the ISU Dining project on June 12-15th.  Check with him following the meeting if you are interested.

 

5.     Kiwanis Garden, 20th & Grand.  Vaughan Speer has finished planting the Kiwanis roadside garden at 20th & Grand.  Take a look at it and give Vaughan your thanks!!

 

6.     Northwood Preschool Donation.  Jody Klieber was presented a $750 gift for the Northwood Pre-School Program.  Funds are used to purchase books and backpacks for needed children.  Jody thanked the club for our continuing support of this program.

 

Humor.  Humor was given by Glen Hillesland.

 

Speaker.  New-Link Genetics, An Ames Cancer Immunotherapy Company,” by Dr. Jay Ramsey.  Dr. Ramsey spoke about their efforts in finding an immunotherapy vaccine to treat pancreatic cancer.  Interesting presentation.

 

Next Week’s Program.  “Wind Energy Research in Iowa and the US,”  by Dr. Vidram Dalal, Director, Microelectronics Research Institute, Ames.

 

The meeting was adjourned by Muff at 10:30 a.m.
