Attendance:  57 members, 4 guests

Location:  First United Methodist Church

 

The meeting was called to order by President Don Muff at 9:30 a.m.  Opening ceremonies were led by Roger Andersen.  “June birthdays” were recognized by Andersen.  Invocation was given by Bob Faar.

 

Announcements:

 

1.     International Problem Solvers.  Two people are still needed to fill out 1 shift for breakfast and lunch during the convention.

 

2.     Paper Trailer.  John Slaughter announced that the paper trailer is full and will be picked up today.  Also, several pallets of product advertising will be loaded from Interpower will be loaded. 

 

3.     Transportation Hall of Fame.  Gerald Solbeck announced that a new Transportation Hall of Fame is open at Grinnell and also that Lowell Richardson will be honored as a new member to the Transportation Hall of Fame.

 

4.     Camp OK.  Don Muff announced that Larry Trede, Gene Pollmann, Norm Den Hartog and himself will be working at the “camper checkout” on Friday morning at the YMCA Camp near Boone.

 

5.     Laverne Seversike and Fred Walker.  Larry Vallery announced that Fred is making slow progress and expects to be home soon.  Laverne Seversike is now at the Green Hills Care Center.

 

Humor.  Given by Bob Riggenberg.

 

Program.  “Wind Energy in Iowa,” given by James McCallery, ISU Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering.  Interesting program on the current and future development of wind power in Iowa and how it compares to other renewable energy sources and coal.

 

Next Week Program.  “World Population Growth,” by Arne Hallum, Associate Dean, LAS, Iowa State University.

 

The meeting was adjourned by Muff at 10:30 a.m.
