The meeting was called to order by President Dick Wilson at 9:30 a.m.

Sharing Time and Announcements:

1.      Waterloo Kiwanis Club.  Join the Waterloo Kiwanis Club in a 100th birthday celebration on May 20th.  Information available from Dick Wilson.  Reservations are due by May 1st.

2.      Webmaster Position.  Wilson announced that the club will vote next week on a bylaws change to create a Webmaster position that would be a permanent member of the Board of Directors.

3.      Terry Wycoff.  Lonnie Mannes presented Terry Wycoff as a new member.  Terry is a retired Vice President of First National Bank, Ames.  He and his wife, Diane, live on Polk Drive in Ames.  Welcome, Terry.

4.      Pancake Days.  Tom Peter reported that Pancake Day Ticket Sales and Foundation donations are $28 short of going over $8,000.  Top ticket sellers were:  (1) Gene Pollmann, $2422.00; (2) Doug Provow, $676.00; (3) Chuck Beall, $450; and (4) Chuck Glotfelty, $234.

5.      TEEN MAZE.  Doug Brodie indicated that 21 members & spouses have signed up to help for TEEN MAZE.  Anyone interested still can sign-up.  See Duane Brodie.

 

Program:  “Potato Bean – What Is It?”  Steve Cannon, Research Scientist, ISU told us about the Potoato Bean and how it can be used for human consumption.  He traced the history and development of the Potato Bean.

 

Next Week:  Speaker will be Dan Bagley, a humorist and storyteller, from Nevada, Iowa and also a retired railroad employee.
