Attendance:  65 members, 2 guests

Location:  First United Methodist Church

 

The meeting was called to order by President Dick Wilson at 9:30 am.  Opening ceremonies were led by Roger Andersen.  Invocation was given by Larry Vallery.  Members with birthdays in April were introduced.

 

Sharing/Announcements:

1.      Paper Trailer.  A check for $383.40 (25,560 lbs.) was received this week.

2.      John Johnson.  Tom Peter reported that John Johnson is home following surgery last week for a small lesion on his liver.  John is recovering well and would welcome visitors or phone calls.  Should be back to “full speed” very soon.

3.      Election of 2015-2015 Officers/Directors.  Wilson announced that the election of officers/directors for 2015-2016 will be held on May 7, 2015.  Slate was approved by the Board of Director today at its board.  Slate is as follows:

a.      President – Jim Cornette

b.     President-Elect – Pete Peterson

c.      Vice President- Glen Hillesland

d.     Past President – Dick Wilson

e.      Secretary- Larry Trede

f.       Treasurer – Wayne Hagemoser

g.      Webmaster – Joe Traylor

h.     Director (term expires, 10/1/17) – Dennis Senne

i.       Director (term expires, 10/1/17) – Ron Skrdla

j.       Director (term expires, 10/1/17) – Bob Sperry

k.     Director (term expires, 10/1/16) – Milt Allison

4.      E-mail Address Changes.  Wilson stressed the need for members to report to the Secretary or Webmaster when they change their e-mail or permanent mailing address.  Helps keep the membership director and contact information up-to-date.

5.      Impact Circle, Silver Award.  Wilson announced that the club has been received an Impact Circle, Silver Award for increasing net membership by 5 or more members since October 1, 2013.

6.      Teen Maze.  Wilson reminded member volunteers for Teen Maze that Teen Maze starts on Monday, April 6th

7.      New Member Packet.  New member packets for membership recruitment are available at the registration desk.  Pick up one and give to a potential member.

 

Humor.  Given by John Slaughter

 

Program.  Stephen Schmitt, ISU Political Science Department, gave a very interesting presentation on “Opening up Cuba – Good Deal or Bad Deal.”  He presented a lot of good information and talked about his experiences in visiting Cuba.

 

Next Week.  Program next week, “Ames City Council Update” by Matt Goodman, Ames City Councilman At-Large.

 

The meeting was adjourned by Wilson at 10:30 am.
