Attendance:      60 members, 2 guests (Jody Melcher, District Governor)

Location:          First United Methodist Church

 

The meeting was called to order by President Dick Wilson at 9:30 a.m.  Opening ceremonies were led by Gene Pollmann.  Invocation was given by Bob Farr.

 

Announcements and Sharing:

1.      Dick Wilson.  Reported on his recent trip to Branson, Missouri.

2.      Duane Brodie.  Bob Ringgenberg reported that Duane Brodie is still hospitalized following lung surgery with double pneumonia.  He is not feeling well and requests no visitors.

3.      George Beran.  George reported on his participation in the Senior Games held recently in Minneapolis.

4.      Les Thompson.  Reported that Tom Leimer is doing well at the Madrid Retirement Home.  Recovered from his surgery. 

5.      Carl Vondra.  Carl thanked the club for the condolences due to the unexpected death of their daughter.

6.      Poker Run.  Tom Peter reported on the August 2 Poker Run.  Registration forms are available.  Prizes will be given for the best Poker Hand.  Starts at Brookside Park at 1:00 m.  Registrants will be given a map of two alternate routes.

7.      School Board Election Fund-raiser.  Jim Cornette reported that 21 members have signed up for helping with the School Board election in Ames.  Names will be submitted to the Story County Auditor today.  Auditor will notify individuals if they are selected.

8.      Keith Folkmann.  Keith was introduced by Tom Peter as a new member.  Keith is an ISU grad in Business Administration.  Retired from Danfoss Power Solutions, Ames, Iowa.  Wife is Carol.  Have 4 children.  Wilson welcomed Keith and presented him with a name badge, membership pin, membership directory, and a “Kiwanis is a Verb” booklet.  Welcome, Keith!!
