Attendance:  67 members, 4 guests

Location:  First United Methodist Church

 

The meeting was called to order by President-Elect Jim Cornette at 9:30 am.  Opening ceremonies were led by Roger Andersen.  Invocation was given by George Beran. 

 

Announcements & Sharing:

1.      Duane Brodie.  John Slaughter reported on Duane Brodie reading from the Caryingbridge.com website:  Duane continues to show good improvement. 

2.      Tom Leimer.  Tom was welcomed back after being hospitalized and also in nursery home care for several weeks.

3.      Earl Canfield.  Reported on a wedding in the family.

4.      Jack Adams.  Joe Traylor reported that visitation for Jack will be Thursday, 8/20, 5pm-7pm, Adams Funeral Home; Services, 11:00 am, 8/21, First United Methodist Church.

5.      Golden K Readers.  Training will be at Edwards Elementary School, 1:15 pm, August 19th.

6.      Election Poll Workers.  Election hours will be 6 am to 9 pm with 2 shifts.  Auditor’s office will be calling to verify participation followed by a letter outlining training and work hours.

7.      Ames Noon Club Social/Silent Auction.  Cornette is seeking three other members to attend along with himself so that we can have an interclub.  Picnic followed by auction at 5 pm, August 29th.

8.      Food-At-First.   A $1000 check was presented to Patty Yoder as part of our charity donation program.  Food-at-First is current serving about 80 meals/day and 140 daily guests at their Food Market.  Food-At-First is now located at First Christian Church.

Program.  “How City of Ames Functions,” by Brian Phillips, Management Analyst, City of Ames.

 

Next Week’s Program.  “Reiman Garden Update,” by Ed Lyon, Reiman Gardens Director.
