Attendance:  65 members

Location:  First United Methodist Church

 

The meeting was called to order by President Dick Wilson at 9:30 am.  Opening ceremonies were led by Joe Traylor.  Invocation was given by George Beran.

 

Announcements & Sharing Time

1.      Bill Mengeling and Tom Leimer.  Welcomed back to our meeting followed extended illnesses.

2.      Duane Brodie.  Continued good progress.  Sat up on side of his bed and watched TV.  Getting stronger and showing steady signs of improvement.

3.      Child Serve Thank You.  Wilson indicated that the club received a thank you note from Child Serve for the donation made by our club.

4.      Chuck Beall.  Celebrating his 85th birthday tomorrow (Friday).

5.      Leo Runge.  Celebrating a wedding anniversary this week.

6.      Tom Peter.  Celebrating 50th wedding anniversary.

7.      Fred Bunce.  Hospitalized for observation.

8.      Election Workers.  Jim Cornette announced that letters to Golden K members volunteering as election workers have gone out this week.

9.      Golden K Listeners.  Dennis Smith gave a brief report on the Edwards Elementary School Reading Project.  Volunteers met with first grade teachers and Raising Readers to receive training. Project will start in mid-September.

10.   YSS.  Roberta Milinsky, Associate Chief Executive Officer, was presented a $750 check to YSS as part of our Charity Donation Program.

11.   CASA.  (Court Appointed Special Advocate)  CASA was presented a $750 check as part of our Charity Donation Program.

 

Program.  “Reiman Gardens Update – 20-Year Plan” by Ed Lyon, Director.  Provided group an update on the 20-year plan for further development of Reiman Gardens and also the Green Space Program between the Gardens and Cyclone Stadium.

 

Next Week Program.  Program next week is “ISU Museum” by Nancy Gehart, University Museums Director, ISU.

 

The meeting was adjourned by Wilson at 10:30 am.
