Attendance:  69 members

Location:  First United Methodist Church

 

The meeting was called to order by President Dick Wilson at 9:30 am.  Opening ceremonies were led by Roger Andersen.  Invocation given by George Beran. 

 

Announcements and Sharing Time:

1.      Duane Brodie.  Jim Penney reported that Duane has been moved to Acute Care, Room 430, Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.  Showing good signs of recovery – slow process.  Feeding tube has been removed.

2.      Bob Farr.  Bob and Helen are celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary.

3.      CASA Thank You.  Club received a thank you note from CASA for our contribution as part of our charity donation program.

4.      Golden K Listeners.  Wilson shared a photo of members participating in the reading program at Edwards Elementary.

5.      2016 Committees.  Wilson announced that many members are still needed for Golden K committees.  Sign-up sheets are on the tables.

6.      Election Workers.  Training for Golden K members helping with the September 8th election are scheduled for training next week.  Those working should have received a letter from Auditor’s office.  Training is mandatory.

7.      Officer/Installation Banquet.  Will be held September 24th at Country Club.  Meal cost is $10/person. 

8.      Teen Maze.  Planning committee meeting for 2016 Teen Maze is scheduled for September 17th.  Pete Peterson will attend for Duane Brodie.

9.      Ames Public Library.  Geri Hyde was present from Ames Public Library to receive the club’s donation of $600 for library books for 2016.  Funds will be used to purchase books for the “Beginner Reading Section” of library.

 

Humor.  Given by Tom Peter.

 

Program.  “ISU Museums,” by Nancy Gebhart, Director, ISU Museums.

 

Next Week.  Program will be “Iowa Games” by Kevin Bourke, COO, Iowa Games.

 

The meeting was adjourned by Wilson at 10:30 am.
