Attendance:  70 members, 2 guests, 4 Ames Town & Country Club Interclub

Location:  First United Methodist Church

 

The meeting was called to order by President Dick Wilson at 9:30 am.  Opening ceremonies were led by Roger Andersen.  Invocation was given by Horace Lantz.

 

Announcements and Sharing Time:

 

1.      Wilson Goodman.  Tom Peter announced that Wilson Goodman, a former Golden K member, passed away recently.  No details regarding a memorial for funeral service.

2.      John Johnson.  Will have surgery next week (Wednesday, Mary Greeley).  We wish him well and hope for good results.

3.      Duane Brodie.  Jim Penney reported that Duane continues to make slow progress.  He saw him this week for about 2 hours.  Is sitting up in bed.

4.      MICA.  Sunny Thompson represented MICA and was presented a $1000 check as part of our Charity Donation Program.

5.      ISU Study on Aging and Sarcopenia.  Wilson announced that the ISU Physical Activity Epidemiology Lab is conducting a research study to investigate the relationship between physical activity and sarcopenia.  Participants are being sought for a year-long study.

6.      Officer/Director Installation Banquet.  Tickets are on sale ($10/person) for the September 24th banquet, Ames Golf and Country Club. 

7.      Jody Melcher Celebration and Division 11 Recognition Dinner.  Wilson announced a recognition dinner for Jody Melcher will be held on October 4th, Nevada, Farmhouse Catering.  Clubs are asked to bring items for a silent auction.  Members encouraged to look around their homes for suitable items that might be contributed to the silent auction.  Proceeds for Project Eliminate.  Cost is $15/person.

 

Humor.  Given by Si Silence and Ken Larson.

 

Program.  “Iowa Games,” by Kevin Bourke, COO, Iowa Games and Iowa Sports Foundation.

 

Next Week’s Program.  “Experiences in Ecuador,” Rachel Fort, ISU Student
