Attendance:  72 members, 5 guests

Location:  First United Methodist Church

 

The meeting was called to order by President Dick Wilson at 9:30 am.  Opening ceremonies were led by Roger Andersen.  Invocation was given by George Beran. 

 

Sharing Time and Announcements:

1.      Don Muff.  Don announced that he and his wife were celebrating their wedding anniversary this week.

2.      John Johnson.  Tom Peter reported that John Johnson had surgery where part of his lung was removed because it was found to be cancerous.  Cancer have metastasized in his lung following his diagnosis of colon cancer last winter.  Expected to be released yet this week from Mary Greeley Hospital. 

3.      Duane Brodie.  Continues to make improvement.  Now eating solid food. Walked from bed to wheel chair.  Likely will be moved to the Nevada Long-term care unit (old hospital) today or tomorrow.  Great news!!

4.      Dennis Randolph.  Introduced as a potential new member.

5.      Gina and Alan Spohnheimer.  Introduced by Joe Traylor as potential member/spouse members.  Gina sings with Golden K Singers.  Have filled out an application for membership.

6.      NAMI.  Jim Cornette presented a check for $500 to National Association of Mental Health (Ames Chapter) as part of our charity donation program.  Present to receive the check was Leah DeMargst, Executive Director.

7.      Officer/Director Installation Banquet.  Wilson reminded members to purchase their meal tickets for banquet to be held on September 24th at Ames Golf and Country Club.  Cost is $10/person.

8.      Jody Melcher Celebration.  To be held on October 4th.  Each club is asked to donate a couple of items suitable for a silent auction.  Members encouraged to attend.  Cost is $15/person.  Need four members for an interclub.

 

Humor.  Provided by Jerry Solbeck.

 

Program.  Given by Rachel Fort, ISU Student on her “Experience in Ecuador.”

 

Next Week.  Program next week is “Our Diminishing Water Supply,” by Dr. Rick Cruse, ISU Water Center.

 

The meeting was adjourned by Wilson at 10:30 am.
