November 5, 2015

 

Attendance:  68 members,

Location:  First United Methodist Church

 

The meeting was called to order by President Jim Cornette at 9:30 am.  Opening ceremonies were led by Roger Andersen.  Invocation was given by Craig Ause.

 

Sharing Time and Announcements:

 

1.     Membership.  Cornette announced that Division 11 is stressing membership this coming year and a goal of 10 new members per club has been set.  We have added 5 new members this past month.

2.     Good Neighbor Concert.  To be held on November 8th, 2 pm, Collegiate Presbyterian Church.

3.     Ballard Kiwanis Club.  A new Kiwanis club is being formed in the Huxley, Cambridge, and Slater area.  Our club will have an interclub to their meeting on November 18th, 11:45 am, Ballard Country Club, Huxley.  Seven officers/directors plan to attend.  One additional member needed to have a double interclub.  Golden K is also donating $100 to help with start-up costs for the new club.

4.     Golden K Listeners.  Dennis Smith gave a short update on the Golden K Listeners program.  Members are being recruited for Spring Semester.  Three additional volunteers (1 reader and 2 substitutes) are needed.

5.     Election Poll Worker.  Cornette announced that more than $2600 was raised by the club for serving as poll worker for the School Board Election held in September.

 

Humor.  Given by Ed Augustine.

 

Program.  “Forestry and Farming,” by Bruce Wight, Golden K member, and retired USDA Forestry Collaborator at ISU.

 

Next Week’s Program.  “ISU Athletic Program,” by Jamie Pollard, Director, ISU Athletics.

 

The meeting was adjourned by Cornette at 10:30 am.
