Location: First United Methodist Church
The meeting was called to order by President Don Muff at 9:30 a.m. Opening ceremonies were led by Roger Andersen. Invocation was given by George Beran.
Announcements:
1. Pancake Days. Pete Peterson announced that ticket sales for Pancake Days ended up within $200 of last year. Final accounting is being completed and any members that have sales money to turn in should do so today.
2. Teen Maze. Duane Brodie indicated that Teen Maze sign-up sheets are still be circulated. Teen Maze will be held next week and volunteers are still needed for several different jobs during the week. Members should contact Duane today if interested in participating in Teen Maze. The Golden K club will also be serving lunch on one day during the week.
3. Stash-the-Trash. Gene Pollmann announced that Stash-the-Trash will be held on March 29th. Our club will clean-up Brookside Park beginning at 9:00 a.m. Pollmann has sign-up sheets for members to participate. Fifteen members are needed. Lunch will be served at Reiman Gardens following the trash pickup.
Teen Maze Donation. A check for $1000 was presented to Geri Buggs, YSS Coordinator, for our donation to Teen Maze. Geri reminded members about Teen Maze activities and thanked the club for their support.
Humor. Humor was provided by Lowell Richardson.
Program. Neil Harl was introduced by Jim Cornette. Dr. Harl spoke on “Are We Facing a Replay of the Farm Deb Crisis of the 1980s.” Harl spoke about the 10 lessons learned from the 1980s and how they are related or not related to the current farm situation.
Next Week’s Program. “Homeless Students in Ames,” by Sipele Quezada, Homeless Liaison, Ames Community School District.
The meeting was adjourned by Muff at 10:30 a.m.
