Location: First United Methodist Church
The meeting was called to order by President Don Muff at 9:30 a.m. Opening ceremonies were led by Gene Pollmann. Invocation was given by Si Silence.
Announcements:
1. Officer/Director Installation Banquet. Don Muff reminded members to purchase tickets for the Officer/Director Installation Banquet, September 25th, Ames Golf and Country Club, 11:30 a.m. Cost is $10/person. Entertainment will be Ames Golden K Singers. Good program is being planned with a few surprises. Tickets must be purchased by September 18th.
2. Project Eliminate. Tom Peter announced that the Nebr.-Ia. Kiwanis Foundation is offering for a limited time to pay $250 for any member donating $1000 to become a Zeller Donor. Donations forms are available from Peter.
3. Meeker School Carnival. Peter announced that volunteers are needed for the Meeker School Carnival to be held on September 14th. Volunteers are needed for helping with food games, and other activities. Sign-up sheets are available today.
4. MICA Charity Donation. A check for $1500 was presented to MICA to help support their community service programs. Programs include a food pantry for Story County residents as well as early childhood support programs.
Humor. Humor was given by Larry Vallery.
Program. Fred Bunce introduced Steve Siemans, 2005-2006 Kiwanis International. His topic was “Inside and Looking Outside.” A very inspirational, humorous talk about “I want to be like FRED, the Kiwanian who is Fun-loving, Respectful, Entertaining, and Dedicated. Enjoyed by all!!
Next Week’s Program. “Working to Establish A Children’s Library in Tanzania,” by Haley Nelson, ISU Student, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
The meeting was adjourned by Muff at 10:30 a.m.
