9.  Golden K Singers

            The Golden K Singers is a group of individuals with a varied backgrounds who enjoy music, particularly singing and having fun together.  Presently, there are 23 singers, 14 of whom are members of Golden K Kiwanis, with Joe Traylor, a Golden K member, serving as the director.  They perform at a wide variety of venues in the greater Ames area.  Weekly practice sessions are held.  The group sings a wide variety of patriotic, gospel, traditional, and contemporary compositions.  This past year the Golden K Singers sang at 14 events held in Ames, Nevada, and Boone.  The 14 Golden K members volunteered approximately 1700 hours of their time in practices and performances for Golden K Singers.  Listed below are the performances given by the Golden K Singers.

10.  Special Recognition

            The Story County Kiwanis Clubs in Division 11, Nebraska-Iowa District of Kiwanis International were recognized by Story County Philanthropy on November 14, 2013.  Recognition was given for support of various social service agencies serving children, families, and residents in Story County.
