The meeting was called to order by President Dick Wilson at 9:30 am.

Announcements & Sharing Time:
1. Dennis Senne. Don Muff announced that Dennis Senne had a heart attack while traveling. Had emergency surgery and three stents. Occurred while traveling with Lego exhibit for Reiman Gardens. Recovering at home.
2. Bill Mengeling. Reported that Bill Mengeling is still hospitalized after having a stroke. Currently in rehab.
3. “Mel in the Morning.” Don also reported that KASI will have its morning show at Northcrest where he will be interviewed about Golden K emphasizing the paper trailer and our service activities.
4. Northwood Pre-School Program. Jim Cornette presented Jody Kluver a $750 check from Golden K to support their pre-school program. Funds are used to buy backpacks for the 300 pre-school children from the Ames community. Program open to all Ames families regardless of income level and children with special needs.
5. Ames Choral Society. Wilson read a thank-you received from the Ames Choral Society for the $500 donated to use for the purchase of children songbooks.
6. “Stash-The-Trash.” Gene Pollmann reported that in spite of the rain and wet weather that 12 members spent 21 hours collecting trash at Brookside Park. $.25 collected from pop cans. Ed Augustine found $5 in the trash and donated it to Project Eliminate.
7. Officer/Director Election. Wilson reminded members that our club officer/director elections will be held on Thursday, May 7th.
8. Bruce Wight and Dennis Smith. Both were introduced as new members. Bruce is a retired forester with NRCS. Grew up in Winterset, Iowa. Received degree from ISU in forestry. Former Kiwanis member. Married, 2 daughters, 2 grandchildren with third expected soon. Dennis is a retired DOT engineer. Grew up in West Union, Iowa. Graduated from ISU in Civil Engineering. Married, 2 daughters, 1 grandchild. Welcome, Bruce and Dennis!!
Humor. Given by Frank Howell
Program. “Thriving in Retirement,” by Dr. Jennifer Margrett, ISU. Gave an interesting and informative program for seniors in retirement. Bottom-line: “Seek out people and an environment that satisfies your needs and priorities; then, act on those priorities to make yourself feel good!!”
Next Week. Program will be “Kepler Space Museum” by Steve Kawaler, ISU
The meeting was adjourned by Wilson at 10:30 am.
