Attendance:  67 members, 4 guests

Location:  First United Methodist Church

 

The meeting was called to order by President Dick Wilson at 9:30 am.  Opening ceremonies were led by Gene Pollmann.  Invocation given by Duane Brodie.

 

Sharing Time/Announcements:

1.      Reiman Gardens Theme.  Dennis Salisbury will have an exhibit at Reiman Gardens this summer focusing on “Tree Houses.”

2.      Duane Mangold.  Announced that he has two grandchildren reaching important milestones in their life – one will be graduating from ISU and the second celebrating their first communion.

3.      Tom Leimer.  Has open heart surgery recently.  Recovering well from a value replacement.

4.      Fred Bunce.  Recognized at a recent bowling banquet for “most improved average score.”

5.      Golden K Singers.  Will be performing at Northcrest.

6.      Bob Faar.  Reported that he got a “clean bill of health” by his doctor at his most recent annual physical.

7.      Dennis Senne.  Back in attendance at our meeting following open heart surgery.

8.      Edwards Elementary Reading Program.  Jim Cornette asked for volunteers to participate in our new service program with Edwards Elementary School.  Volunteers are need for 1 hour/week starting this fall to assist first-graders with their reading skills.

9.      ACCESS.  A $1500 check was presented to Angie, Executive Director, ACCESS as part of our charity donation program.

10.   Bob Studer.  Introduced by Pete Peterson as a new club member.  Bob is a retired Iowa DOT engineer, native of Laverne, Iowa, graduate of Iowa State, employed by DOT for more than 40 years, married (wife, Zella), 3 children, and 2 grandchildren.  Welcome, Bob!!

11.   Officer/Director Election.  Will be held next week.

 

Humor.  Given by Wayne Hagemoser

 

Program.  “Kepler Space Museum,” given by Dr. Steve Kawaler, Professor of Physics, ISU.  An interesting program on the discovery of new plants and stars in outer space. 

 

Next Week’s Program.  “Honeybees:  What They Do for Us,” by Gabrielle Hernesath, American Honey Queen.

 

The meeting was adjourned by Wilson at 10:30 am.
