Attendance: 70 members, 2 interclubs (Nevada Kiwanis and Roland Kiwanis; 8 guests).
Location: First United Methodist Church
The meeting was called to order by President Dick Wilson at 9:30 am.
Opening ceremonies were led by Roger Andersen. Invocation given by Sandy Fleck.
Sharing Time and Announcements:
1. Health Repots. Keith Peterson fell and broke his tailbone. Tom Leimer is under rehab. Bill Mengeling is making improvements with his rehab.
2. Frank Howell. Celebrated his mother’s 100th birthday recently.
3. Nebr.-IA. Golf Outing. Will be held on June 8th, Nevada. Cost is $60/person.
4. Walmart Food Delivery. Tom Peter is looking for some help every Tuesday at 9:30 am. To pick up food from Walmart and deliver it to Bethesda Food Pantry.
5. Teen Maze. Wilson announced that Ames Golden K had the largest number of volunteers and hours served of all Kiwanis Clubs help sponsor the 2015 Teen Maze.
6. Adopt-A-Road. Gene Pollmann announced that 15 volunteers worked 45 hours on our 2-mile Adopt-A-Road project on May 17th. $5.75 was collected form bottles and cans.
Humor. Given by Chuck Beall.
Program. “Teen Maze,” by Lauren Bell, YSS, Eastern Story County Coordinator, and Michelle Hertzke, YSS After School Coordinator. Evaluations for 2015 were excellent. Served 1,105 students. Only one public school in Story, Boone, Greene counties failed to participate. Ames Golden K provided 102 meals, 24 volunteers, and 180 hours of service. On-going program for 5 years.
Next Week’s Program. “Election Administration,” by Dawn Williams, Elections Director, State of Iowa.
The meeting was adjourned by Wilson at 10:30 am.
