Attendance: 65 members, 2 guests
Location: First United Methodist Church
The meeting was called to order by President Dick Wilson at 9:30 am. Opening ceremonies were led by Roger Andersen. Invocation was given by Bob Farr.
Announcements and Sharing Time:
1. Earl Canfield. Announced that his Grandson is getting married in Minnesota soon.
2. Bill Mengeling. Continuing with rehab in Ankeny. Is making progress and is working hard to recover from recent stroke (reported by Bob Farr).
3. Jim Sperry. New member inducted. Lives is Ames. High school graduate from Fort Dodge. Has been employed by Becker-Underwood. Been a library volunteer. Wife is Melissa Anderson. Welcome, Jim.
4. John Arthur. New member transferring from Roland Kiwanis club. Retired from Danforth-Sundstrand in Ames. Active in Roland Club. Belongs to a “split household.” Hawkeye fan and Grandson is also one of the ISU “Cys.” Welcome, John.
5. Community Service Hours Reporting. Trede reported on monthly community hours sheets. Stressed the need to report hours related to Kiwanis Administrative activities, service to Golden K Singers, and hours spent working on paper-trailer project.
6. Camp OK volunteers. Two additional volunteers are needed to help with checkout tomorrow at the Y camp in Boone. Contact Jim Cornette or Pete Peterson.
Humor. Given by Glenn Hillesland.
Program. “Election Administration,” given by Dawn Williams, Secretary-of-State of Iowa in charge of elections. Presented some of the programs currently underway and also discussed how elections are handled.
Next Week Program. “Boone County K9 Patrol” by St. Dallas Wingate and Tasar.
The meeting was adjourned by Wilson at 10:30 am.
