Location: First United Methodist Church
The meeting was called to order by President-Elect Jim Cornette at 9:30 am. Opening ceremonies were led by Roger Andersen. Invocation was given by Bob Farr.
Sharing Time & Announcements:
1. Dennis Keeney. Had an article in the Ames Tribune last week.
2. Bill Mengeling. Continues to show improvement and progress from his therapy.
3. Duane Brodie. Vacationing in Canada; however has been diagnosed with cancer.
4. Get America Singing Again. Joe Traylor announced that there will be a sing along this coming Sunday at the Ames Library at 2:00 p.m. Ames Choral Society will be using children’s’ songbooks which Golden K help fund.
5. Membership Packets. Larry Vallery announced that new membership packets are available at the registration desk.
6. Camp OK. Pete Peterson announced that Les Thompson, Jim Cornette, and he helped at Camp OK last Friday. Assisted campers with checkout and helped park cars. Most campers were from Nebraska even though the camp is sponsored by the Nebraska-Iowa District.
7. Poll Worker Fund-Raising Project. Cornette reviewed a proposed fund-raising project with members serving as poll workers. Pay is $10/hour. Would help bridge the gap in our funding needs for our charity donation program. Proposal will be reviewed by Executive Committee.
8. Friendship Ark. A $750 check was presented to Friendship Ark to support their program. Currently, they have 4 homes in the Ames community that provide independent living for intellectually disabled persons.
Humor. Given by Sandy Fleck.
Program. “Boone County K9 Patrol,” by Sgt. Dallas Wingate and his German Shepard dog, “Bandit.”
Next Week. Program will be “Photography ABCs,” by Mark Stoltenberg.
The meeting was adjourned by Cornette at 10:30 am.
