Twelve brave Kiwanians from Ames Golden K braved 40 mph winds on Thursday afternoon (5/15) to complete
the scheduled cleanup of our county assigned “Adopt a Road” two mile segment by Holubs on east 13 th Street.
The winds tried their hardest to make it nearly impossible to hang on to the bags (without flying) as they
ballooned up and down, twisted and tried hard to fly away!
Our mission was accomplished in just over an hour – thanks to Mark’s organization and Jim’s pickup assistance.

Several members of the Golden K Kiwanis helped plant a flower bed on north Grand Avenue. Those helping were Tom Peter, Mark Lohafer, Jeff Witt, and Gary Erbes.
Eight Golden K Kiwanians had a good time planting 390 flowers and plants into 43 planters to help beautify Main Street on 5/9/25. Vern Greimann (not pictured), Mark Lohafer, Dennis Senne, Dave Splett, David Hellyer, Gary Meyer, Tim Lowry, and Gary Erbes. A special thanks to Tim Lowry and Gary Meyer for providing their pickups for plant transportation!
