Ames Golden K Kiwanis held their annual luncheon on September 26 at the Ames Golf & Country Club. The luncheon began with all present joining in singing the National Anthem and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a collection of songs by our always entertaining Golden K Singers {pictured below} under the direction of Joe Traylor. A ceremony to honor Golden K’s six deceased 2018-19 members was followed by the introduction of eleven new members and their sponsors. John Arthur {pictured above} was presented the Golden K Kiwanian of The Year award by Golden K President Larry Vallery. Iowa-Nebraska Kiwanis Governor Lenora Hanna {pictured below with spouse Milford and Larry Vallery-left and Division 11 Kiwanis Lieutenant Governor Randy Griffith–right} recognized Ames Golden K as a Distinguished Kiwanis Club, and then presented “A Look Ahead”—remarks that were very meaningful, sincere and poignant. Other distinguished guests at the Luncheon were Joe Melcher, Trustee, IA-NE District 5 and Jody Melcher, Past Governor IA-NE District. The luncheon concluded with Division 11 Lt. Governor Randy Griffith recognizing Retiring and New Golden K Officers and Directors and with remarks by outgoing President Larry Vallery.
