Attendance: 67 members, 2 guests
Location: First United Methodist Church
The meeting was called to order by President Tom Peter at 9:30 a.m. Opening ceremonies were led by Roger Andersen. Invocation was given by Larry Vallery.
September birthdays were introduced by Roger Andersen.
Tom Peter announced that tickets for the Installation Banquet can be purchased for $10/person. Date is September 26, Ames Golf and Country Club, 11:30 a.m. Program was finalized by the Board of Directors this morning.
Kiwanis Club Polo Shirts can be ordered today. Cost is $21/shirt payable when the shirts are delivered. Orders can be given to Wayne Hagemoser.
Joe Traylor explained the new Club website. He reviewed the instructions and the use of user names and passwords so members can access the members’ only section. Pictures of Golden K activities are needed to make the website more attractive. The website can be accessed at www.amesgoldenk.org
Peter announced that colored pictures will be taken of all members beginning next week. These will be used on the website. Members will be asked to update the bio information at the same time. It is expected to take several weeks for all members to be photographed!!
It was announced that Al Bentley is celebrating his 65th wedding anniversary today!! Congratulations!!
Humor was provided by Monty Brown.
Dick Wilson introduced S. J. Hamlin, Entomologist, North Central Plant Introduction Station who spoke about “Bees and Other Pollinators” used at the Station. He talked about the role and function of the Plant Introduction Station, its relationship to Iowa State, and the technologies used at the station for pollinating crops.
The meeting was adjourned by Peter at 10:30 a.m.
