Wayne Ostendorf was introduced and was presented a check for $1000 by Golden K for the Ames AKTION Club as part of our charity donation program.  Wayne talked about the recent successful activities of the AKTION club including have the members help with a service activity at the local Pizza Ranch.

Peter reminded members that individual photos are being taken of all members. These will be used for the Golden K website and to update the club’s directory.  Brent Pearce is taking the pictures and members are asked to update their bio information found in the club’s directory.

The officer installation luncheon will be held on September 26th at the Ames Golf and Country Club at 11:30 a.m.  Tickets are $10/person and members are asked to sign-up within the next week so that an accurate numbers count can be provided to the Country Club.    Program includes the Golden K Singers, comments from our Division 11 Lt. Peter reminded members who to order a Golden K polo shirt that orders needed to be placed today.  Shirts will be ordered next week and members can pay when the shirts are delivered.

Peter announced that we will meet at St. Paul Lutheran Church on October 3 and 10th.

Humor was provided by Glen Hillsland.

Dick Wilson introduced Linda, Naeve, ISU Horticulture Dept., who spoke on “Increasing the Effectiveness of Ugandan Women in Agriculture and the Farm Marketplace.”  Linda talked about her experiences working with Ugandan women to improve their farm production and marketing skills.  Very interesting presentation followed by many questions.
