Bob Studer, 1935-2022

Robert Dale Studer, 86, passed away at the Israel Family Hospice Home in Ames on Monday, August 15, 2022. Visitation will be Thursday, August 18 from 4:00 to 6:00p.m. at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way, Ames Iowa 50010. Services will be Friday, August 19, at 11:00 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church, 516 Kellogg, Ames Iowa 50010.

Robert was born on October 13, 1935, to Henry and Merna (Anderegg) Studer. He attended a one room country school for several years. He graduated valedictorian from La Verne High School. He attended Iowa State University and graduated in 1957 on a Friday and started work the next Monday for the Iowa Highway Commission which later became Iowa DOT. He was employed there for 43 years retiring in 2000.

He was united in marriage to Zella (Jensen) Studer on April 14, 1961. To this union was born three children, Diane, David, and Dan.

Bob was a big bicycle enthusiast riding twice across the USA, spent a month in Scandinavia and amongst other places rode in Alaska and Hawaii. As well as 40 plus years of RAGBRAI.
He was a very active member of First United Methodist Church serving on most committees at one time or another.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. He is survived by his wife Zella of 61 years, his children, Diane (Patrick) Russell of Westminster, CO, David Studer of Ames, and Dan Studer of Tabernash, CO, grandchildren: Sarah Studer of Chicago, Andrew (Nicole) Russell of Lacey, Washington, Marryssa Russell (Blake Dowen) of Fruita, CO and Morgan (Michael) Morgan of Fort Hood, Texas, and two greatgrandchildren Liam Dowen, and Wyatt Morgan, and many nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank the Doctors and nurses at Mary Greeley Medical Center and Story County Skilled Care in Nevada. They are the best! Also, a big thank you to Pastor Amanda for her many visits and our family, friends, and neighbors who helped us along the way.
