Record-sized Interclub to Nevada 2018

Eighteen members of Ames Golden K journeyed to Nevada March 27 to attend the Nevada Kiwanis weekly meeting.  Golden K’s Larry Trede was the featured speaker. Pancake Ticket Sales Champs 2018!

The recently completed 2018 Annual Pancake Days collaborative effort of Ames Golden K, Noon Kiwanis, and Town and Country Kiwanis was a great success. Ames Golden K’s top ticket salesmen were Gene Pollmann  (left) who sold over $1,500 in tickets and Doug Provow  who sold over $850 in tickets.   Congratulations Gene and Doug.  And, THANKS, guys!

Teen Maze Support 2018

Ames Golden K Kiwanis presented a check for $1,500 to Youth Standing Strong (YSS)  on March 15 to support the 2018 Teen Maze program, a signature project for Golden K.  Pictured, left to right, Golden K member Dick Wilson, Gerri Bugg YSS Director {and Golden K member} and Golden K member John Slaughter.

The 8th Annual Teen Maze will be held April 2-6 at the Boone Community Center.    Teen Maze is an experiential learning event that delivers powerful information to 7th grade students in Story, Boone and Greene counties, and has been developed through collaboration with many organizations and agencies, including Kiwanis Clubs in these counties.

YSS Support 2018

Ames Golden K Kiwanis presented a check on March 8 to support the Youth Standing Strong –YSS– organization in their efforts to assist disadvantaged young people in Ames and surrounding counties.   Pictured from left, Golden K member John Johnson, YSS Director Of Marketing Amy Hutter, and Golden K’s Merle Core.  Ms. Hutter spoke to the Golden K members about “Reggie’s Sleepout” which will be held at Jack Trice Stadium Saturday, March 24, with a goal to raise $100,000 to fund programs to aid Homeless Youth.
