Officer Installation Luncheon, Sept. 26th, Ames Golf and Country Club, 11:30 a.m.

Board Meeting Oct. 3rd, 8:00 a.m. St. Paul Lutheran Church

Members interested in serving on Club Committees for 2014 Contact Don Muff, In-coming President, immediately

 

The meeting was called to order by President Tom Peter at 9:30 am.  Opening ceremonies were led by Gene Pollmann.  Invocation was given by Larry Vallery.

Don Muff will be setting up 2014 Club committees in the very near future.  Sign-up sheets were circulated for members to indicate their interest in serving on committees.  Several additional members are needed for the “Kitchen Committee” to help set up and organize refreshments for each meeting. 24 members are needed on that committee.

A new web site maintenance committee is being established.  Joe Traylor will serve as club webmaster but other club members interested in helping with the website should let Joe know of their interest.

Gene Pollmann announced that the fall roadside clean-up day will be on October 10th.  Sign-up sheets will be distributed on October 3rd.

The Officer Installation Luncheon will be next week, 11:30 a.m., Ames Golf and Country Club.  Tickets are $10/person.  Sign-up sheets are still available until the end of today’s meeting.

Polo shirts have been ordered.  Will be available soon and members can pay for them when they pick up their shirts.

Tom Peter announced that Don Muff and his wife will be celebrating their 53 wedding anniversary.  Congratulations, Don!!

Dick Wilson introduced Deb Lewis, Curator, Ada Hayden Herbarium, who spoke on “Iowa Native Plant Society.”  She has been involved with Herbarium for 29 years.  She talked about native plants found in Iowa, the large collection housed in Bessey Hall on the ISU campus, and answered many questions about the Society, its collection, and native plants in Iowa.

The meeting was adjourned by Tom Peter at 10:30 a.m.
